I’m often asked: “Why do I receive this LinkedIn invitation error message, Christine?
This message was sent to an email address that is not associated with your LinkedIn account. You may have another LinkedIn account with this email address.”
If you get it too, not to worry…and you’re not alone, trust me!
I’ll walk you through what it means, why you get the message, how to resolve it, some background information, an example and more!
What does this mean?
It means you need to add the email to your LinkedIn account.
I’ll detail for you below exactly what you can do to easily and quickly resolve the situation.
Why am I receiving this message?
You’re receiving this message because someone wants to connect with you via the email address they have for you…perhaps a previous company, a personal email, etc.
Here’s how to resolve this LinkedIn invitation error message:
1. In LinkedIn, click Settings in the menu under your picture in the top right of any page.
2. Add and confirm your additional email address…this will keep you from receiving the error message going forward.
LinkedIn invitations are email address driven, like on FaceBook, and you can associate all your emails with your one account.
For example, I have my ChristineHueber.com domain, yahoo, hotmail, and gmail email addresses all registered with my LinkedIn account that I opened in 2006. This makes it easy for anyone I’ve known since 1997 to connect and network with me on LinkedIn, where I’m the LinkedIn #1 All Time Top Expert Female and have a Top 1% Most Viewed LinkedIn Profile.
If you don’t add it, you’ll continue to receive this LinkedIn invitation error message…or even worse…create duplicate accounts (very confusing and time-consuming to merge!).
You can more easily and quickly grow your network and business using LinkedIn, when you add all your emails that any of your contacts might have.
So now you know what you can do you receive a LinkedIn invitation error message.
